Veteran Coach Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie has been confirmed dead after an ambulance transferring him to the Okomfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi was involved in a fatal accident. The former Black Satellite coach was reported to have attracted a mild stroke and rushed to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital last month.
According to Football Ghana, the accident occurred on the Bonsu road, and the body has been transported to the Suhum Government Hospital. He is credited with qualifying four different Ghanaian national teams to the World Cup- the Black Starlets in 1991, 1997, and in 1999 when he qualified the women’s national team, the Black Queens to the World and in 2001 when he took Ghana U-20 men’s to the final in Argentina. May his soul rest in peace.
